The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities abroad and doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto considered North America as a growth market for Washlet's bidets and toilets, in contrast to its "base" markets of Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto documented Toto words so that the next generation could be able to read the words. Many words were replaced by foreign ones. For example dui, which was Bengali for verandah, was being used.
Origins
Incorporated in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the early years of its existence, the company produced products to meet the demands of new, modern urban housing. To do this, it used the first tunnel kiln in the country to make ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, which allows for greater efficiency and consistency.
In the latter half of the 1980s, the company began to expand overseas in order to benefit from sales and new markets. The company created the Cera Trading Company to import and sell other manufacturers' products to expand its line of sanitary earthenwares as well as plumbing fittings. This strategy helped to increase sales and expand the market share of the company globally.
In the 1990s Toto began focusing on research and development of water-related appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better meet the needs of its customers and to increase profits. The company implemented a just-in-time approach to managing its supply chain and used the same methodology in its sales program. This resulted in a greater level of satisfaction of customers.
Toto has been able to continue to innovate on the toilet technology. Its latest toilet has a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. The company uses recycled water for its manufacturing process, and has a green purchasing policy. In addition to toilets Toto manufactures faucets and bathtubs and hand dryers that are more efficient in energy use than conventional models.
The first Toto museum opened in 2015. It features exhibits on Toto’s seminal products as well as their evolution, group companies (all of which are made of ceramics) and the history of plumbing, and other products like bath units. In another gallery, visitors will find Toto products that are sold across the world. The museum also includes a bathroom with the WASHLET toilet, as well as other toilet-related innovations.
Before forming Toto the band, members of the group did session work for various musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich, guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name as evocative as Asia one would expect the group to be prog queens and kings but they're actually a fairly simple rock band. The band was initially four-piece, and released two albums: 1979's self-titled debut and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a wide musical background but their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, but it was not without its issues. Record companies put the band on position with the order "give us a hit record or we'll take you off the market" and the pressure was on to give it. Luckily for Toto they delivered and they did it with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is a result of their previous experience in the music industry, as the band members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their distinctive sound has become the standard for the '80s, and has influenced many contemporary artists.
The album opens with a strong and pounding sound with songs like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write great AOR songs that slowly build their hooks into you. The album also includes some more jazzy, slower tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations, a song that mixes folk with distortion AOR and should sound totally wrong, but works wonderfully well.
After Toto IV, the band's fortunes turned to the downside. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band was through several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band following drug-related charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Despite the turbulence, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. The group managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album was the last of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new vocalist.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an ode to the classic sextet structure and it was a more consistent, more powerful album with a sharper edge. The edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. 안전놀이터 순위 growing ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's work was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than on previous efforts.
After touring to promote their album, the band recorded the band's Amsterdam live show which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. The group released a brand new studio album just a few months after, and went on a tour around the world to promote the album. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old demos and tapes in search of an album that would feature songs that were never recorded before. The album was released as a double-album titled Then And Now in 2001. It was the first album by the band without the single track "A". The album also contained an previously unreleased track called "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure, and singer Williams suffered from a bad laryngitis infection that limited his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.
Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the founding members of Asia, met in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be revived. This lineup, with the exception of Howe (who was a member of Yes at the time), eventually became known as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
